The Lafayette High School Percussion Ensemble was selected to perform at the 2008 Kentucky Music Educator’s Association Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.  This is a huge honor and an important step forward for our program.  Congratulations to the students and staff!

Bushido finishes first at I&E!

I’m proud to report that my solo timpani piece, Bushido: The Way of the Warrior, was performed at the 2007 DCI Individual and Ensemble Competition in Pasadena, California.  Amanda Montemayer with the Blue Knights finished in first place with a score of 96!  Congratulations Amanda, and thanks for playing my piece!

John to record with DOJO

I’m excited to announce that DOJO (The Dimartino/Osland Jazz Orchestra) will be recording a new CD this month.  It’s the group’s second release, but my first as the regular drummer.  The CD will contain music that the group has honed at its monthly gig at Comedy off Broadway in Lexington, KY.

John featured with Lafayette Symphony Band

I will be performing with the Lafayette Symphony Band directed by Terry Magee at the LHS Spring concert on May 14th, 2007.  I will be playing the xylophone solo on a band arrangement of the famous George Hamilton Green rag, Rainbow Ripples.  I’m excited to be performing with the band as this is my first time playing a solo with a wind band!
